dr. ericia l. kempker, psy.d.
licensed psychologist specializing in forensic psychology
Welcome
My name is Dr. Ericia Kempker. In addition to working full time for the State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health (DMH) as a licensed psychologist and Certified Forensic Examiner, I also have a private forensic psychology practice offering services state wide.
My private practice work focuses on forensic psychological assessments and evaluations for state and federal courts. Most commonly completed evaluations pertain to competent to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and risk and treatment needs assessments for adolescents and adults with sexual offending behaviors. Evaluations are typically completed for public defenders, prosecuting attorneys, and private attorneys throughout the state of Missouri.
I have been employed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health since September 2005. I first worked at Fulton State Hospital (FSH) from September 2005 to April 2010. FSH is a 300+ bed long-term forensic facility that provides maximum and intermediate security and various treatment programming for forensic clients committed through Missouri's criminal and civil Courts. At FSH, I completed several hundred court-ordered evaluations pertaining to competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, conditional and unconditional release, and sexually violent predator (SVP) evaluations. I worked at Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (NMPRC) from May 2010 to MArch 2011, where I also completed a variety of court-ordered evaluations. NMPRC is a 100+ bed long-term forensic facility that provides minimum security and various treatment programming to forensic clients also committed through the Missouri court system. Currently, I am at the Sex Offender Rehabilitation and Treatment Services program and am conducting court-ordered annual assessments for those committed as Sexually Violent Predators under Chapter 632 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri.
I developed my interest in forensic, or psychology and the law, issues during my undergraduate career and received a BS in Psychology and Criminal Justice. During graduate school, I continued focusing on forensic issues. I completed a forensic predoctoral internship program at Westborough State Hospital in Westborough, Massachusetts and completed my postdoctoral training at Forensic Health Services in conjunction with the University of Massachusetts - Boston. During my postdoctoral fellowship, I completed assessments of at-risk youth for the Division of Youth Services, and I completed assessments and provided sex offender treatment services at the Massachusetts Treatment Center for Sexually Dangerous Persons.
